2023 Reads!

As per my 2nd 2023 goal I had my husband carry up my bin of books (which weighs a gazillion lbs I swear, I could barely lift up a single stack of these books.. lol!) so I could dig through this bin of goodness & see what i’ll be reading this year!

I haven’t taken a peek in this bin since we moved to Cape Breton Island last January, so truly it was a surprise to me! And I was very pleasantly surprised, there are so many good books in here, i’m excited to dig in!

In all there are 52 books, which kind of makes me feel like the universe is trying to tell me something, however, no, I highly doubt that I will be reading a book a week. Some of these books are as heavy & chonky as my Walter is…

Without further ado, let’s take a peek & see what i’ve collected!

The Paris Library, The Honey Bus, Mr.Darcy Takes a Wife, The Tides of Time, The Nightingale, The Great Alone, Where White Horses Gallop, The Birth House, I Know This Much is True, Cutting for Stone, Saving Fish from Drowning, The Best of Me, Light Between the Oceans.

The Gifts of Imperfection, The Mermaid Chair, After You, Me Before You, The Girl You Left Behind, The Lake House, The Distant Hours, Shanghai Girls, All the Light We Cannot See, Stones from the River, Dreams of Joy, Lady Almina & the real Downton Abbey, Lady Catherine & the real Downton Abbey, Secret Daughter.

The Goldfinch, Führer, Folk & Fatherland, The Forgotten Garden, The Secret Keeper, Unbroken, What Alice Forgot, Sold on a Monday, Teatime for the Firefly, Crazy Rich Asians, Rich People Problems, Crazy Rich Girlfriend, Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason, Bridget Jones Mad About the Boy.

CEO of Everything, The Black Donnellys, Then Again, The Hours, Geisha A Life, The Subtle Art of not Giving a F*ck, Dewey, Under the Tuscan Sun, The Lucky One, Shopping, Seduction & Mr. Selfridge, The Life Changing Magic of not Giving a F*ck, Bridget Jones’s Diary.

In all 11 of these I purchased new at retail, and the rest were picked up from thrift shops & library sales. A few were picked up after watching them on TV (Mr.Selfridge was a tv series I enjoyed a few years back!) Goldfinch from the movie, which in fact, I didn’t even get around to seeing, but I thought it looked good! lol! Crazy Rich Asians I loved the movie and have watched it a couple times, so bought the series…

Let me see.. what else do we have. Unbroken, that movie was brutal, but soo good! The book should be even better! Diane Keaton, i’ve always loved her spunk & personality! And just a bunch of random books that I either love the author, or they simply “looked good”.

Führer, Folk & Fathrland I remember purchasing directly from the Author at an arts sale in London, Ont. He was quite interesting to speak with and to be honest, how often do you hear the “other side of the story”. His father was a German soldier in WW2, and I thought it would be a fascinating read. I have read many, many books about WW2 and generally they are never from the German side. Anyway, he sold me on his book & was such a kind soul, that i’m excited to finally read his story!

I also found myself a cute little magnetic bookmark which means I can stop using random receipts… lol!

“You Make My Heart Smile”

Now… my only problem is, which book do I start with!?

What do you think? Do you see any books here that you’ve read & loved, or any on your “to read” list?

Do you buy new books? Used books? Or strictly use the library?
